Agriplex gets $100,000 added on for renovations

The Agriplex in Prince George is getting some additional funding to add on to its renovations.

In Monday’s City Council meeting, the city approved the $100,000 being added to the $200,000 project that was meant to get the outdoor riding arena ready for the 2022 BC Summer Games.

During the renovations, it was found that a new drainage system was needed.

In the report that was submitted to the city:

  • $50,000 is needed for the drains.
  • The consulting budget is $35,000.
  • $15,000 is being set aside as a contingency.

Councillor Cori Ramsay said she appreciated the transparency this report showed.

“I really just think that this new bylaw we have is really at work, and this is what we’re seeing tonight.”

The report also stated that the project must be completed this year to allow time for proper settling and compaction of the dirt for the 2022 BC Summer Games.

This project is being funded in part by the Community Works Fund.

“I’m really pleased to see us making opportunities to go to the Community Works Fund for community recreation like this, and the fact that it is needed for the BC Summer Games doesn’t escape any of us,” said Councillor Garth Frizzell.
