After working with sport and community partners, including municipalities and school district, to sort out details and timing, the BC Games Society and the Greater Vernon 2022 BC Winter Games Society announced that the Games will be held March 23 to 26, 2023.

Games Legacy Goes Beyond Sport

When the 2020 BC Summer Games were cancelled due to COVID-19, the Foundry Maple Ridge was selected as one of the Games Legacy projects. The grant of $18,000 created the opportunity for young local artists to work with artist Rain Pierre from Katzie First Nation, known for his art and for his work with local students.

Under the guidance of Pierre, the selected students developed a mural that was unveiled at the Foundry this month while building their portfolios and being inspired by Pierre.

At the mural unveiling Pierre said "I am a firm believer that things happen for a reason. The BC Summer Games didn't happen, but they did in a way."
