Five alumni amongst BC Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Among the BC Sport Hall of Fame's recently announced Class of 2023 are five BC Games and Team BC alumni: Olympic gold and silver medalist in ski-cross Kelsey Serwa and three-time wheelchair basketball Paralympic gold medalist Jaimie Borisoff are joined by basketball coach Bed Huband, who enters the Hall in the Builders-Coaches category. Bill Clearie and Roy Crowe, who represented Team BC at the 1969 Canada Summer Games, are being inducted as members of the 1971 Richmond Roadrunners men's lacrosse team.

BC Games Society welcomes new Event Manager

The BC Games Society would like to welcome Juli Prokopchuk Brattan to the team as our new Event Manager. In her role, Juli will assist the host societies with the planning and execution of the BC Winter Games.

Juli brings rich games experience, having worked on 15 provincial games as Manager of Major Games and Competitions with Special Olympics Ontario. She was also Chef de Mission for Team Ontario at seven national games, in addition to Canada's Team Manager at the 2017 World Winter Games in Austria and Assistant Chef de Mission at the 2022 World Winter Games in Russia. Most recently, Juli spent time with Triathlon BC.

Team BC's Ben Pawluk recently had his cancer scans come back clear

After a cancer diagnosis kept him from the Games, Pawluk’s box lacrosse teammates rallied around him to win gold at the 2022 Canada Summer Games in Niagara. The team hung a jersey behind their bench during every Game and other provinces flocked to sign it in support of Pawluk.

Team BC athletes and coaches getting ready for the PEI 2023 Canada Winter Games had an opportunity to hear from three Team BC alumni who have gone on to represent Canada on the world stage. as part of the CSI Pacific and Team BC Games Prep Program Webinar Series.

Team BC alum Joel Waterman cracks Canada's FIFA World Cup roster

The Aldergrove native got called up to the World Cup squad just 12 days before Canada's first group stage match against Belgium. Joel helped Team BC to a silver medal at the 2013 Canada Summer Games in Sherbrooke.

Team BC and BC Games alum sets world record en route to becoming Para-cycling track world champion

Mel Pemble competed at the 2014 BC Winter Games and 2015 Canada Winter Games in alpine skiing before representing Canada at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Paralympic Games. Her sights are set on the Paralympics yet again, but this time in Para-cycling.

BC Games Leadership Bursary recipient recognized for volunteerism

Payge Doty-Brown, recognized for her achievements in her sport, classroom, and community as one of 16 BC Games Leadership Bursary recipients at the Prince George 2022 BC Summer Games, has been named the 2022 Comox Valley Local Hero - Youth Volunteer.
